Lately, wafer paper and rise paper are very popular edible mediums in cake decorating. But is wafer paper the same as rice paper?
The short answer is – no, they are not the same thing.
Wafer Paper is a rectangular sheet of dehydrated edible paper and the main ingredient is potato starch. Wafer Paper is white and semi-translucent. It resembles a sheet of printer paper.
Wafer Paper can be used to print images, create lifelike flowers, and can be used with craft punches or cutting machines.

Rice paper is mostly round and made out of tapioca starch, rice flour, and salt. It is also called “Vietnamese Rice Paper” or “Spring Roll Wrappers”.
