How to clean and reuse cake dummies

Have you ever wondered how to create a dream cake for a small wedding?

I use a lot of cake dummies (or fake tiers) to accommodate client requests.

Also, using cake dummies is a great way to practice new designs and build your portfolio.

In this video, I’m going to show you how to clean styrofoam cake dummies and prepare to reuse them again.

So, how to clean cake dummies?

  • Remove any wired flowers
  • Remove wafer paper decorations
  • Microwave dummy cake in 30-second increments
  • Gently peel fondant while it si hot
  • Use the dishwasher to remove any remaining fondant
  • Let cake dummy dry for 2-3 days before using it again

    • Just leave your dummy cakes to air dry. I never use an over to dry cake dummies.
