Wafer Paper Flexible Lace
How to make edible lace for cake decorating?
In this tutorial, you are going to learn how to use wafer paper to create beautiful modern lace for wedding cakes and bespoke designs.
Learn my easy technique and tips and tricks on how to make wafer paper lace flexible and arrange cake decorations on a cake.
You will need:
- Wafer Paper (I use 0.27mm, but any thin wafer paper would work, especially if you have any dry or scrap pieces)
– Regular Wafer Paper
– Premium Wafer Paper
– Saracino Wafer Paper - Shallow bowl for water
- Color of your choice (I use petal dust, but gel or airbrush would work the same)
– The Sugar art Elite Cecylia Rose
– The Sugar Art Brilliant Sparkle - Nonstick pan (clean and dry)
– Mueller HealthyStone 12-Inch Fry Pan - Piping gel (you can just clear gel, water or corn syrup, something sticky)
– Wilton Clear Piping Gel - Mini steamer (optional, but helps with softening and reshaping wafer paper lace)
– Nano Mister Steamer - Any decorations you want to add
– I made Maggie Austin’s Freshwater pearls from her book (page 143)
– PME Edible Sugar Pearls
This edible lace is very versatile and great “last minute” design idea. Also, you will see in this video, it comes together in minutes without any special tools or equipment.
Hope you give it a try and share on social media! I’m excited to see your cake.
